No it is silly to think you can make a living language stagnant

Should we go back to using the word worry to only mean to strangle something or that left should only mean weak? Languages evolve and change overtime and it is folly to believe you can stop that by making rules and then puffing up when the language evolves past those rules. That isn't preserving the language it is just an attempt to control it and make it what a small group thinks it should be so only their hard effort spent learning those rules won't be wasted. Which isn’t all bad, languages need rules but they also need to be allowed to grow and change and not be locked into some arbitrary state that was chosen primarily because it was the state the language was in when people decided they needed to control it. Even then it was only the state of the language in a very small geographic region which is why words like y’all are considered improper despite the fact it has been in common use by tens of millions of people for hundreds of years. If the word had been common in New England back in the 1800s when Webster was writing his dictionary there would be no question about it.
The word profession didn’t even always mean highly skilled job that requires a license but the word evolved overtime. If there had been grammar Nazis back them I am sure they would have been screaming that to profess was to take a vow and had nothing to with what type of job you have.
As for the conservative part I am not being PC I am simply accurately describing the modern use of the word and giving my opinion of why preserving one particular archaic form of the word is a waste of time. Sorry but as a conservative I judge people by what they accomplish and how they handle themselves not what titles or honorifics they managed to have bestowed upon themselves. Getting a degree is all well and good but in today's world really isn't al that impresive in and of itself. Even someone like me with my poor spelling and grammar skills can get As in English class since Word corrects me if I ask nice. Just about anyone who is stubborn enough and has ability to delay supporting themsleves can spend enough time at school to earn a degree. Besides judging people by their place in the social order is much more in line with the liberal mindset.

There was no hyperbole in my response. Seems like we found two words you can't define properly.

No, most of us just want to preserve the plain English meanings of words.
