I really like doing these sorta of year-end reflections and goals for next year.
In 2011, stuff that I did:
- Got a US passport
- First trip to Europe! (Budapest)
- Passed the last CFA exam, and got the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Joined the NYSSA (New York Society of Security Analysts) and attended several events.
- Got my friend to join my gym, and did 21 hours of kettlebell classes.
(21 hours a year might not seem that impressive to you, but that's an average of 3/month once I got my friend to join, which is almost once a week, and that makes an awesome difference in my level of fitness.)
- Finish home renovation project (the bulk of initiative and work was in Nov 2010, but in 2011 is when I received the remaining furniture, and actually paid for it all)
- Joined an alumni group for my college, and became active in meetings/fundraising. Made some usefuly connections, met the college president.
- Got a nice relationship.
So this is how 2011 felt to me - it was a great year, a lot of good things happened, and I was distinctly very happy for the bulk of the time. But also it felt like those things weren't really my achievements, but rather like lucky circumstances or outcomes of the hard work done before. For example, getting the CFA charter was my biggest goal for the year, but it rested on having passed 2 examps in prior years and getting 4 years of experience. Nonethess, I'm not complaining. If my life keeps progressing at the same rate, I would be very happy and grateful, but I suspect that now fate would need a lot more input from me.
Goals I didn't complete: get new Social Security card, take martial arts classes and get to the next belt level, get in touch with former college acquaitances (sorority, for example), take a trip to Savannah, a lot of work-related initiatives, getting to work early.

It doesn't feel like I've achieved much of anything in 2011.
