The budget is always an issue, we have a mega lawsuit going on with a d-bag developer, our sewer system is aging and we need to consolidate plants before they start failing (one did 2 years ago and it cost us $20 million to rebuild it), etc.
By the way, even though I am a big-time partisan, local stuff can be summed up as "personal" but not that "partisan". In a modestly-sized suburban town, certain people hate others for no real reasons, but our voters are pretty independent. We are a marginal R town, but from 2001-2009, the D's controlled the local government.
So, if I screw the pooch, we all will be out on our butts within a few years!
