I've heard horror stories of them exploding on people etc ... but I truly believe alot of that can be attributed to Operator Error.
So stoked to try out a pot roast tomorrow ... with a whole day off to enjoy I may do two or three meals just for experimentation sake ...
Did your gradma have any particular dishes she used to specialize in? I am settled that pot roast and corned beef will be mainstays for me, but I am looking to branch out in the recipe department ...
Hope your holidays were pleasant, Kel, good to see ya

I remember when I was a little kid, we had one nearly explode at home.. it sprayed chicken broth all over the ceiling in the kitchen when the cap popped off the top. I think my Dad just got the thing too hot. It got so hot that the steam sprayed all of the liquid out of the pot, it was completely empty when we opened it up.
My Grandma made lots of pot roast and veggies in it.. I still remember how moist and tender the meat was. Like you, I only remember the pot roast, corned beef, but my Dad liked to use it to cook down whole chickens for chicken noodle soup.
Just a quick look on Allrecipes.com found a bunch of recipes.. BBQ, pork tenderloin, beef stew, tons of different soups.
Our Christmas was great.. first year with the kids, and our little boy Rocky is 3, so Christmas is magical to him. He knows about Santa and knows how it works. Sophie is 2, so she was just picking up random presents and opening them, didn't really matter if they were hers or not.

How was your Christmas?

That's a relief. You can't eat raw egg in this country anyway, so I don't need to change any habits.
