Everybody hates it except journalists, who just include it because it's an eye-grabber like "SEX!!!" - Edit 1

To a degree the same thing happened with the top and bottom quarks, often called Truth and Beauty, so maybe we should name the next ones the 'sexion' and the 'ultimate answer particle'. A lot like NASA, science often relies on enthusiastic public support for stuff they don't understand, so a touch of showmanship is necessary. News outlets usually like to gussy up stories for better ratings or paper sales themselves, so this stuff happens a lot. Just like those "earth like twins" that pop up regularly for planets in other systems that resemble us less than Venue or Mars. It's showmanship, same as when Hannah or ones of those others trots out the especially scary or cute animals on Leno, same as wanting to plant someone on the Moon or Mars in spite of it itself being rather pointless. Keeps people happy with funding it, inspires people to go into the field.
