But that's easily compensated by the fact that you have a person to share with.
And we still have our separate activities.
I think it really just depends on what your SO is comfortable with. In our relationship, we don't exactly hold each other back from the things we want to do.
E.g. I'm fine when my SO goes out to dinner with female friends (even exes). Similarly, he doesn't mind me from spending time with male friends one on one. And no, we don't have an open relationship.
And from time to time he spends the entire evenings playing marathon gaming sessions with a friend. Not sure if it's as often as he'd like, but we both have such busy lives that I figure that even if we weren't together, he'd still not be able to game that much more often. But then, we also play video games together.

All that sounds great and what a long term relationship should be like (and like mine is.)
But the question is: does a wedding ring coming into the equation not change and rearrange a few of those things, mostly due to society's expectations but sometimes also due to the couple's narrow minded views on what a marriage should look like (as opposed to maybe less strict rules within a serious relationship).
Personally speaking, that's a trade I am not willing to make (yet?).

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
