That's arguably flawed reasoning, there's apparently considerably fewer posters overall now

Then, there were the conservatives Nekro, dartboard, SR71, and, you claim, you, under whatever screenname you had. Additionally, damookster frequently provided a rightward-moderate position.
Just to yank numbers out of my ass, if there were say, 1200 posts a day at some point, compared to this site's rough average of ~300 a day, all things being equal a 50% drop off in conservative talkers would indicate a rough doubling in representation, so to speak.
These days, the only people who post conservatively are you, Isaac, and occasionally MightyYT. Tom occasionally posts things of a fiscally conservative nature, but he has always done that.
'Conservative' is a fairly broad term, and 'fiscal conservative' is very hazy. I could add quite a few people to that list, considering how much RT and I both vary from the alleged conservative norm.
I largely stopped posting politically on this site as I grew older, for a combination of reasons. Primarily, it is because arguements on this site rarely evolve beyond disputing facts and sources. On the rare occasions that they do (typically the novel-length discussions between Isaac and Joel), they are generally discussions that either have been repeated countless times or ones that I don't think I have anything constructive to offer in.
I'm going to assume that was an overall compliment

Political Board = Chat Drama x 9000 *NM*

I doubt that very much.

Which is pretty much my point

I remain unconvinced a few voices can drown out the rest in an internet environment.

the problem with the chat drama is spilled over into everything else

All the political crap would go there, like it does on those other sites.

Perhaps some might feel more comfortable posting if it were separate?

Probably the easiest solution is to have a filter instead, save the new board for a "Writers Board"

To a certain extent. But the site's left lost LiterateDog and Chorabliss.

there would be so little traffic on the community board that you could shut it down
