I remain unconvinced a few voices can drown out the rest in an internet environment.

If only because there would be no cybering in sub-threads, with all THAT schoolyard drama. It would probably be little worse or different than the current CMB.
There's little difference in recent weeks between a politics board and this CMB, or at least it seems that way upon quick glances before resuming reading or viewing another site.
I am, of course, no authority on the subject, but is not as if political CMB threads push the others off peoples screens. I am, however, willing to entertain the possibility, which in conjunction with a number of other reasons is cause enough for me to rein in my political posting somewhat (obviously, I control no one else in that regard.) I fervently and sincerely hope that successfully encourages a return to the kind of diverse, interesting and funny CMB of yesteryore, where people were numerous and generally friendly. No promises though; I DO remain convinced the high percentage of political posts is a symptom rather than cause of the problem.

Political Board = Chat Drama x 9000 *NM*

I doubt that very much.

Which is pretty much my point

the problem with the chat drama is spilled over into everything else

All the political crap would go there, like it does on those other sites.

Perhaps some might feel more comfortable posting if it were separate?

Probably the easiest solution is to have a filter instead, save the new board for a "Writers Board"

There is a reason we are seeing so much complaining about politics form certain people

You're adorable. You're also pretty new to the site, as I recall.

Then you should know there are fewer conservatives on the site now.

That's arguably flawed reasoning, there's apparently considerably fewer posters overall now

To a certain extent. But the site's left lost LiterateDog and Chorabliss.

If people want to keep the place alive and interesting for themselves then they can do these things:

there would be so little traffic on the community board that you could shut it down
