And I neither go to Penn State nor give a damn about football, so it's not like I care about the guy. He did what he was obligated to do, he didn't cover anything up... And anything beyond that is up to him. Sure it would have been good if he had done more, but that doesn't make him not going the extra mile a bad thing or him a bad person.
About the rest... In general, parents should undoubtedly be more responsible for their children. Furthermore, I'm sure a lot less children are victimized in any sort of way today than they ever were in the past, yet the hysteria over it has probably grown. Children are already more than adequately protected by government and laws. Anything further would require them to either have tracking chips implanted in their brains or parents to do a better job.
