I'm clearly not its intended audience since I'm a) not on Twitter and b) already here. So I mostly ignore it.


Wouldn't "a" include you in it's intended audience? I assumed it was for people who don't have Twitter and so wouldn't otherwise see those site updates. I know I don't use Twitter and I also don't visit all the boards on this site, so I see things in the box I wouldn't otherwise see. Which isn't to say I'm interested in those things... but I probably wasn't going to see them without the box.
