Well, it was the Tambopata river in the Amazon rainforest. And it was more floating down the river wearing a life jacket than really swimming.
But the point is that they told us about that fish. So we refrained from peeing in the water. Although there were occasional suspicious warm spots...
Anyway, I haven't been on here for a while (apparently my premie expired without me noticing), but I came back on and noticed this series. I now have eleven to catch up on, but good job. I'm always looking for new and interesting animal anecdotes I can use for work.

I'm pleased as punch to learn that they warn people about the candiru. It is as fearsome as it is legendary. Floating down a river in the Amazon sounds pretty amazing.
