Is there any reason why you figure Ron Paul would do significantly better this time around? The man has one major asset, which is that he's stubborn and stands up for his own beliefs, and to hell with what everybody else thinks. That's rather unlikely to outweigh the downside of making him unpalatable for just about everybody for a host of different reasons, though. No doubt some politicians might benefit from taking a leaf from his book and having opinions instead of just opinion polls, but Ron Paul will never be a major party candidate, nevermind president. Not unless he gives up the better part of his radical stances, anyway, and I suppose that'd kill some of the fascination for his fans...
