Things that irritate me about reading twitter and watching CNN

1. CNN continues to refer to pro-Gaddafi fighters as "government forces" when in fact it is clear that there is only one government left in Libya, and that is the NTC out of Benghazi. What they call "the government" is really nothing more than the Gaddafi spokesman's rantings, backed by a few thugs who haven't been killed or captured.
2. People are stupid. Dozens of people on twitter think that there was no Libyan uprising, that the whole thing was staged or sponsored by NATO as part of some evil scheme to "get Libya's oil", when in fact the uprising was inconvenient, as the West had just spent a lot of time and money to make peace with Gaddafi and had some sweet oil deals without needing to bomb. Also, some people seem to actually believe idiots like Hugo Chavez who have been saying that NATO "flattened" Tripoli and killed thousands of people.
3. The West should really take a more interventionist line with respect to protecting civilian populations against brutal crackdowns. I don't know how or under what exact criteria, but we should just ignore the UN and do it.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

Even if there aren't any planes, South Africa supported Gaddafi as of this morning.
