In the US no one really noticed the story until about an hour ago, and I knew it because I always monitored the live blogs at the Guardian and al-Jazeera (despite hating their politics).
I switched to Twitter because it is faster but admittedly less reliable.
South African planes were supposedly at Tripoli airport. Leave it to South Africa to stay classy and support tyrants and butchers in the name of "anti-imperialism".
l think that is now moved down to being just a rumour with the more recent claims no South African planes are in Libyans air space.
