Just a very simple question. Why does Ron Paul tend to be ignored in the Republican Party and the Tea Party? I got thinking about this after Jon Stewart's segment a couple of days back about this. His primary stances are libertarian conservative, and yet he is constantly downplayed in the Republican debates, he is less favoured in the media compared to Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann, who more or less jumped on the Tea Party bandwagon, when Ron Paul (to keep along with the metaphor) practically built it. Does anyone have a theory on why?

Most conservative libertarians these days are ex-neocons, they could accept statements like '"We're overextended and these wars achieve less than hoped for" but they are not receptive to "We are in the wrong, period" and his various other points only appeal inside the core party to the conservative libertarians. His stance on drugs is even a bit much for 'conservative libertarians' who generally are of the 'Pot? I suppose so, tax it and regulate it, maybe some other stuff' not full blown purchase of Cocaine at Walmart. So the group - in the mainstream conservative movement and the GOP - most likely to support him is pretty much turned off by his attitudes on defense.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
