Probably because I opined my impression that most of the viable GOP field looks pretty unimpressive.

Call it wishful thinking but I generally go out of my way not to open threads that are going to spark heated debates. I'm not sure what could be less controversial than 'Pawlenty out, me sad' with an offhand inquiry - pretty obviously aimed at other right-wingers - of who they were favoring and why.
Not that I'm the most unbiased source there, granted. It doesn't help that, knowing a bit about Perry from my time in TX, I find his candidacy laughable for all the reasons I've often stated, and rt has just as often disputed. Now it comes out that at least some national GOP organizers have reiterated the same concerns in their entirety, so naturally I'm citing that and naturally he's disputing it again. Like I say, Bachmann ought to have a field day attackingPerrys small government credentials after he:
Eminent domained people out of their homes for a toll road built by an overseas company,
tried to force every schoolgirl in the state to take an HPV vaccine only available from a company that hired one of his aides (and made it an executive order when the Legislature require it by law, though of course they overruled said executive order),
and derives most of his "TX has half the new jobs in the country" spiel from creating (in some cases duplicating) new state agencies.
Far from the presidency or GOP nomination, he'll be lucky to get the Tea Party vote (speaking of which, I can't help wondering if rt is as hip to the word on the street when he says I'm off base about them as he is when he says I'm off base about Perry. ) If Republicans want a viable Texas nominee, they should get Kay, who, once again, would be a far more formidable candidate; she just needs the name recognition, but she's quite conservative, intelligent, photogenic and, so far as I can tell, sane. I can't decide yet if she's retiring from the Senate to prepare for a 2016 run in the event Obama's re-elected, or if she just thinks challenging Perry hurt her too much with state Republicans (maybe she's worried about a Tea Party primary challenge based on this, because we all know anyone who ever in any way supported anything Obama proposed is the Anti-Christ. )
Romney's still the only game in town; it's hard to credit rts insistence that Perry's a viable candidate when even HE didn't back Perrys renomination to the job he's had for eleven years.
