Roughly; are you going to pretend that 2010 was as good a year for Dems as 2008? Joel Send a noteboard - 15/08/2011 05:34:32 AM
Maybe Texas isn't as far right as some on the far left would have us believe. Most pollster rate Texas as "leans Republican". Not sure where you are getting your numbers for wide spread republican support of White but since they are almost the exact same number Obama received I would suspect they are BS. By the way as stunning as the poll numbers you posted are they really look about the same as Pawlenty's numbers so I guess Americans must hate that Minnesota swagger as well. Or that is just the numbers you would expect to get from little known candidates in August before the primaries have even started. As for the poll showing Obama beating Perry in Texas wasn't that the PPP doing that polling? They don't even claim to be unbiased.

I've yet to see anyone from either Fox or "the liberal media" (i.e. everyone else) portray 2010 as anything but a major drubbing for Dems, and only the latter has claimed 2008 as anything but a mandate Obama failed to use. The main place I'm getting my numbers on widespread Republican support for White (and it wasn't support for White, it was opposition to Perry) is all the life long die hard Texas Republicans I spoke with who said they were voting for him because they wanted rid of Perry, all the White signs I saw in the yards of very Republican Williamson County. You must have had some aversion to your incumbent two term Governor if you voted for his opponent in the primary; a lot of your fellow Republicans weren't willing to vote the party line for someone they can't stand. For what it's worth, I believe that was a PPP poll showing Obama leading Perry in TX, and I do recognize they are essentially a Democratic polling firm, so no, I don't take it at face value, but unless they're outright cooking the books the fact that Obama led Perry in ANY TX poll should be cause for concern.
