Of course, the American far right no longer waits to be accused before accusing others of accusing it. An hour long documentary on the Utøya massacre was re-aired here last night; the comment that stuck in my mind was that Breivik was "trying to take out the next generation of liberal leaders". Meanwhile, Beck calls them "Hitler Youth" and Pam Geller accuses them of "antisemitic wargames" (implicitly making Breiviks murders the violence she condones "in self defence" *wink, wink* ), then proudly reminds us that when a Norwegian emailed her four years ago saying he was stockpiling guns to use for similar "self defence" against Islam she deliberately hid his identity to prevent his prosecution. A man I thought a good friend is no longer speaking to me because I won't give him the apology he demands for my disgust at calling Breivik a Muslim sympathizer, using the murder of children to attack the very beliefs for which they were physically attacked and killed. It's kind of unnerving to recall I've slept in his house. It's a VERY sore point with me right now, Rod; I know you guys feel very victimized and abused, but us evil liberals are the ones getting shot, so cry me a river. Tell ya what: Next time your father-in-laws stepdaughter is checking lists of the dead for her classmates names after a massacre I'll be sure to tell you how offensive it is that you care.
