Insane. I am getting married in a week, and my mother is on edge. All the more so because I refuse to spend too much time on the thing, as I think finishing my PhD is more important (strangely).

Congratulations! On the marriage and the impending PhD. Overall, a wedding is something that is exactly what you make of it, and as long as you're happy it's all good, but a PhD, not so much, those things sort of need to be done a specific way. I think you're right to focus on it. The marriage will happen regardless, one assumes.

Thank you, and yes. Of course, I want people to have a fun time, but I am not sure that depends entirely on perfect coordination. Also, I throw up if I see matched napkins and flowers, so I may actually be sabotaging it.

My wedding is currently planned for next summer, so I have all sorts of time to get nervous about it. Also to buy a suit. I told Diana I would be fine going in a t-shirt and jeans, but for some reason she doesn't believe me.

My man is actually dressing more expensively than me. My hat (I am making everyone wear a hat) and my dress cost about the same, but since he is wearing a morning coat for the ceremony he obviously has to change for dinner (obviously). *cough*
I can forgive any man who will wear a top hat, though. He may have read The Chap too much.
