Yeah, and I realized that last list should include Farsi and Arabic.

Though oddly enough, the Farsi had at one point progressed to a medium conversational level back in around 2000. I had a one-hour commute to and from work and for three years I studied a language on the commuter train both ways. This essentially gave me two hours per day for three years, and I just picked random languages (usually brushing up on the dead ones, in all honesty). The Farsi was getting decent when I stopped. Of course, that was back in the days of Khatami and the "kinder, gentler" Islamic Republic.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

I do that because I make some money from translations, so I have to "know" at least one other, no?

I think if you would be able to make not just basic needs known...

Funny how your taste in languages still to learn parallels mine to a great extent.

I suppose Farsi must be easier than Arabic.
