They cost between $500 to $5000 dollars per unit, and they are only capable of displaying low amount of color. For example the triton unit I link below which will cost $530 (instead of prototypes linked above) can do 4096 colors and 16 shades of gray. (in other words 4bit color, 6bit color can do 262,144 colors and most monitors sold are this good of color, 8 bit color can do 16,777,216 colors and this is what professional monitors are capable of, that and the ipad and nook color.)
