this is probably only relevant to about one of you out there, but the old Illuminati Online domain -- io.com -- will be going to a new owner july 1st and will no longer provide internet services. originally the Illuminati BBS, io.com was born as a direct result of the secret service raid on Steve Jackson Games, which in turn launched the fledgling Electronic Frontier Foundation. what started as a place to get updates on some obscure RPGs turned into the original internet champion of online rights.
i let my subscription to io.com lapse back in 1994 or 1995, but it was probably the best ISP i've ever had an account for, and it's kind of sad to see it finally fade away like this. well, like most things from the early days of the internet, it's now a piece of our collective nostalgia, even if you never participated.

I did manage to get access long enough to download a pdf of the Illuminati rulebook. I seem to have a knack for losing those (I believe/hope I accidentally left it in TX, and still feel bad about losing the one from the original plastic box set Steve Jackson signed back in HS). Definitely sad to see it disappear after a generation online; not much on the internet has that kind of longevity (and you aren't cleared for most of what does.... ) I'm kinda curious where it's going, and to whom, but am afraid asking questions will result in my late night disappearance. *wants another shirt, because without clothing no one will know how I spend my free time*
So, stupid question: What are they gonna do for online support now? Oh, and you might get more interest in this on the GMB, too, not sure.
