That is, at least, if you're going by an accurate definition of religion. Religion is man's efforts to please a diety and/or try to earn one's own salvation by merit. Christ taught a relationship with the God the Father, through Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. While real, saving faith leads to us turning from our sin, it's more accurately a relationship than religion, not strictly a system of Dos & Don'ts.
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
