It's frankly typical for Obama and his administration's entire line of "we know better than you do what information to give you". We saw this in the health care debate, where they said, "You just don't understand the bill" and now we see it here, where the statement is "it's too grisly for you". I am not a fan of governments keeping secrets for no reason. I can understand keeping the identity of the SEAL team secret, to protect them and their families. But a photo of a dead bin Laden with a big gaping hole in his head? There's no reason NOT to disclose it, and so it should be disclosed.
The secret would be if we were not told that he was dead, in order not to piss off his followers. Something we all know isn't a secret, so the photo doesn't change that. Unless you believe you have reason to doubt?
According to what I've heard (admittedly many different sources), the official release isn't about it being too grisly or that we're too delicate for it. It's about keeping the photo out of the hands of people who would use it for propaganda against us. So, no reason not to disclose it? Not true. If you're not looking at it that the govt is trying to protect you from it, I need a better reason than just: "It exists, let me see it."
His head on a spike?

No. It's even more bullshit. There is no good reason to keep the photos confidential. *NM*

It is a government document and we know of its existence, so YES, as a citizen I have a right to it.
