I question the thought process that just shooting them dead and throwing the body in the ocean is somehow cleaning than having a trial even if it is a flawed trial. The trial was far from perfect but it was public and he was allowed to defend himself. He was a little crippled by the fact that he was guilty as hell and most of the country would accept nothing short of him being dead.

You do have a point about the trial, but do you disagree that there was a slight difference in the way each man was taken? I can't say that they ever intended to do anything other than kill Bin Laden, because that's what everyone was calling for. I think I'd be disingenuous if I tried -- the president himself said it. But when it came down to it and he defended himself and was shot, it automatically made it different than Saddam's case.
