Dreams get weird, best not to read too much into it - Edit 1

If it recurs a few days in a row, try some sleeping pills or a stiff drink for a couple nights, those usually nix vivid dreams. If after that it happens again, well, bigger issue, something unresolved. Don't bother, IMO, interpreting beyond the obvious. It's not that a meaning isn't there, but rather that if you can't catch it after a few moments of review it's probably too obscure, abstract, or buried for you to find it and you'll end up pulling the wrong details up to focus on. If it recurs enough, you'll catch it. It's rarely what you expect anyway, when it's not blaringly obvious.

A friend of my kept having a recurring dream about taking out the trash, had it for years and is probably still having it. He always woke up sweaty with a feeling of forboding. After looking for every rational - and he had some good ones, he remembered a racoon leaping from the can when he was young and hissing at him, he remembered taking refuge from a mortar barrage behind a dumpster, etc - he never came up with one. Last time we talked he mentioned it again, he'd bought a dreamcatcher, he'd stopped taking out the garbage in favor of doing the vacuuming, etc. He still was having the dream. I think he's spent so much time pondering it's meaning that it has now taken on a life of it's own. So, an example I suppose of why not to think about this stuff too much.
