Don't lose weight quickly! It's weight fluctuation that's bad for you.

That would apply even if you were obese. But I'm assuming you're not. Based on what you said, I'm assuming you're within the normal range.
In that case, losing any weight super slowly goes double. Don't go on crazy diets, don't mess up your metabolism. Don't cut out any foods, don't cut out "bad" carbs or fats... I really do think it is unhealthy to lose weight quickly, or to be constantly losing or gaining weight relatively quickly. Easy come, easy go. I don't mean natural fluctuations of a couple of pounds. I mean gaining or losing 10+ pounds repeatedly.
For people who are fat, ideal weight loss should be 1-2 pounds a week. If you're not that fat and want to lose weight for reasons of vanity rather than health, it should be more like 1 pound a month. Or a year, really. I lost a lot of weight from age 18 to 21- about 2 pounds a year. I'm not saying that I weighed the same in December and in August, or on different times of the month or days of the week. It's my *range* of weight that shifted, however slowly.
Vast majority of people who lose weight quickly enough for it to be noticeable will gain it back, and then some. So try not to get on a "lose 10 pounds in time for bikini season!" type of plan.

As in, I need you to support me, not that I'm going to support you. Lazy wenches.
Anyway, while I'm not obese by any stretch of the imagination, I have gotten a bit roundier than I would have preferred. I will be dieting and exercising (bought a wii fit to get started!), and I figure that the more people I tell, the more embarrassed I'll be if I mess up. Also, I thought that if anyone else is in the midst of getting in shape, it could be fun to share stories.
For the record, I'm doing sort of a South Beachy plan (only good carbs, good proteins, good fats, lots of veg) and counting calories on livestrong.com. Also wiiing, obviously. Maybe playing camogie again.
I have some questions.
1. Are you currently following any kind of weight loss/fitness plan?
2. If so, have you been doing this for a while?
3. How's that working for ya?
4. Have any advice? (If you're Tom, you don't need to tell me that I should just run and eat what I want within reason. I apparently have a special kind of chub that is impervious to this plan.)
5. Would you like to be supported in this endeavor? I've got an excellent guilt-trip.

Time for some community support.

Mass-produced sliced bread is gross. Fresh tasty bread is delicious.
