So, I've been engaged for over a year now, and we haven't set a wedding date yet.
Amanda and I are doing our own not-quite-how-it-"should"-be-done courtship. For certain social and pragmatic reasons we aren't engaged yet, however we fully intend to be married, likely within a year. The pieces we need to fall together should easily fall in that time.
I like this, as I like being engaged. And planning a wedding sounds like an awful lot of work to me (and probably requires throwing a lot of money at it, too). I'm not really the kind of woman who's been planning her marriage since the age of 4.
Amanda isn't that type either. XD
I do have a vague sense that I want to throw a really cool party.
We have a vague sense that we want it to be simple and somewhat short... we are both introverts and so we know we would not last a day long ceremony and following party/reception.
So on to the survey:
1. 'Did you ever attend a wedding? (if not, prob this survey isn't for you)
For my siblings, yes. One for a friend. Don't recall any besides that.
2. Do you like weddings?
No.
3. Did you ever organize a wedding? (Was it your own?)
No.
4. What was the best wedding you ever went to, and why was it so good? (cue for: my own, because I love my spouse so much! real intention of question is that I want to know what made the party fun)
Probably my friend's wedding. She managed to keep the total length to a reasonable duration. I was able to drive the 6.5 hour drive there, attend the wedding, and drive the 6.5 hours back in one day. (At least, as well as I can recall, that's what I did.)
5. What kind of wedding would you like to throw yourself (if you were to marry at some point)?
Short, to the point. Not a lot of people. Something that satisfies the minimum social requirements for a wedding. Amanda and I would fit right in with the people on Big Bang Theory.
6. Do you like traditional weddings, or ones that do something unique/funny?
Unique. Amanda is going to wear a kimono, for one thing. Haven't worked out the rest of what we will do. But we have plenty of time.

If you don't want drama, don't invite family. Seriously, listen to the voice of experience here. *NM*

How can you *not* invite family? Family is all that matters. *NM*

That entirely depends on how you define family.

In your opinion. For me, as an example, it is the people I care for and respect that matter.
