1. How old where you when you got your first job?
Depends on what you count as a job. A real, steady day job, I haven't had yet. The municipality where I grew up had four week long summer jobs for all youths in a certain age span, so my first job where I got paid was one of those, when I was 14 or so. I worked in a second-hand store. My first "real" job (as in actually filling an existing work position) was as a summer temporary substiute at an elderly care centre. Other than that, the military conscription which was 11 months of symbolic payment for hard work. For king and country...
2. What was your first job?
See above.
3. How long did you work there?
A little more than a month. Got called in a few more days later the same year.
4. What's the oldest person you know who is (or was) sponging off their parents still (I do NOT mean college students, but say that guy down the street who lets his gf pay for their fun, and lives with his mom - all while not going to school or working for no other reason than... he doesn't feel like getting a job)
I'm not sure I know anyone, but for the one I suspect the most, he's 23.
5. (If you live in a part of the world where you have to drive) How old were you when you got your driver's license?
18 years.
6. Did you wait way past the time when you COULD get your license?
No, about 9 months after I turned 18 (when I could've gotten it first if I had) I got it.
7. Did you graduate from college?
Trying to. Will take my bachelor's degree in Forestry this semester, then it's either working for half a year or so or directly onto studying for the Master.
8. What did you major in?
Well, my Master's degree will be in Biology, so I guess I'll answer that.
9. Did you get a job in your field?
Not yet. Hopefully I will. Otherwise, it's been quite a waste of years.
10. If not, what do you do? Did you need a degree to get this job?
I'm a student hoping to be employed by whichever forest related government agency or forest company wants me for this summer. If I don't get a job with something forest related, it'll be even tougher next year for me, and the year after that (when I graduate). If I still won't get any job in my field, I'll probably go back into the army for some time, or take the Ph.D-route.
