There is a reason the saying has been around as long as it has. With so many girls giving it away there are a lot fewer men interested in being in relationships. I could have used the market economy analogy but I am not sure it is less offensive. I know I work with several single men in the thirties and forties and most of them have little to no interest in dating women their own age or being in a serious relationship. Why should they? They are not exceptionable attractive or rich, their personalities are not all that great but still they have almost no problem hooking up whenever they feel need. My wife has single girlfriends who can’t find a guy interested in anything but having a good time.

Being compared to a cow may not be that complementary but sometimes abrasive makes the point better.
