I think I was too harsh. I was mostly seeking to entertain- I said that my opinion counts for more than everyone else put together and then you posted and I could not resist. It's much easier, not to mention more fun, to offer a flip remark instead of answering your points.

It's impossible for my opinion to count for less than nothing. If, as you say, my opinion is going to be disregarded for the sole reason that I hold it, then it does count for something, it just creates antipathy rather than sympathy. Opinions don't work like math, so that actually means my opinion counts for something. QED.
Now, why my opinion is held in such low regard is beyond me. In fact, it seems quite curious that the opinion of "you shouldn't decide on your own what a person you're dating is allowed or not allowed to do" would be rejected out of hand, considering statements that I've heard in the past.
