...Russia has called for non-selective bombing to stop, whatever that means. China has expressed deep regret. India has joined them. And the head of the Arab League (the body who have spent the last week ringing their hands saying something should be done or there's going to be a massacre, but not doing squat fucking diddly themselves), has called for all bombing/action to stop.
And they are all squeeling this isn't what we wanted.
Brilliant. Good to see some things never change. The UN is still a powerless, weak kneed, irrelevant mouthpiece of tyrants and non-entities. And their resolutions aren't worth the paper they are written on.
The West still gets dumped on by the Arab league for taking any action, despite them spending all week pleading for someone to take action.
And all these people and the media still think that somewhow you can stop Gaddafi, implement a non-fly zone and protect the rebels...without actually having to, you know, drop bombs that take out air defence systems, airfields, military installations and tanks. No, you just wave your magic wand instead and it's all better apparently.
Still they are right on one thing, we shouldn't be there. Instead we should have stood back, watched the massacre and when it was all over the media and the world and UN was wailing, we should have pointed a finger at the arab league and gone "Well what the fuck did you do about it, it's on your fucking doorstep".
So we've been dragged into a civil war by several bodies who have now decided, one day later, that they don't like that. And who knows what happens next, what if the rebels advance again, do we start bombing them? After all we are only allowed to protect civilians, whatever a civilian is these days...
Rant over, i feel a bit better after that.
