Maybe...

So I finally went to the doctor to find out why I've been feeling so crappy this winter, and hopefully get something to treat the Sinus Infection from Hell. But after seeing the doctor, I find out that I don't have a sinus infection at all.

I have allergies.

At the age of 30, I have suddenly developed allergies.

I haven't seen an allergist yet, so I don't know what I'm allergic to yet, but I am terrified that it is going to turn out to be cats.

I can't live without cats. I can't bear to part with Jens and Sven. I don't know what to do if I turn out to be allergic to them. I've heard that some people who are allergic to cats manage their allergies and keep the cats, but I don't know how common it is or how well it works.

Anyone else go through something similar? Any advice for me if I turn out to be allergic to one of my favorite things in the world?

(no I'm not getting rid of them and getting a goldfish :P )

My mum developed allergies even much later than this, mostly to food everyone considers basic for every day. Of course that changed a lot for her.
We never had cats, so I don't have any got any advice in that department, sorry.
So I hope it's not cats for you and that you can keep them!

I am pretty sure I have more allergies than I know, too. I got them checked before doing civil service, and only got dust as result, but for a few years now there are a few weeks each spring where I sneeze a lot and I can't eat treated apples. Plus, I get a lot of sinus infections in winter, so who knows. But for now ignorance is bliss is my motto. :P

If it's remaining alive or keeping the cats, I'd remain alive. - 16/03/2011 05:55:05 PM 760 Views

I'd rather be attacked by a squirrel than be allergic to cats *NM* - 17/03/2011 07:13:21 PM 320 Views
