From what I can tell, the primary reason for the disgusting protests was that one of the speakers was supposedly a radical Islamist. If that is true, I don't have a problem with that particular person being harassed for his hateful views, but not the congregation, who was going there to raise money for shelters.
From what I have heard about the guy they were supposedly mad at he does have some viewpoints about politics overseas and the whole Israel/Palestine situation that dotn sit well with a lot of people including myself.
However the things being said at the protest clearly were not aimed at that guy but pretty much the muslims attending and Islam in general. Getting in a persons face and yelling "Go beat your wife, like you do every night, she deserves a good beating" and "Mohammad is a pervert" , "I know a few marines that would be more than happy to send these terrorist to an early meeting in paradise", "Go back home!" is very personal. The saddest part of the whole thing were the 3 elected officials there participating in this hateful act.
Of course, if we allow Westboro Baptist Church to protest at military funerals then we have to allow this sort of thing, repulsive as it is.

I agree. When i first watched this video I was hurt and saddened and angry, and the first thing that came to my mind was, if Westboro can yell "God hates Fags" at grieving parents at their childs funeral then these people have the right to yell this crap as well.
They are still fucking assholes though. Standing in a town called Yorba Linda and telling Muslims they dont belong in America and they need to go back home. wow.

This makes me feel sick, and very angry.

At first I thought it was just really dark humor, which I admittedly have a taste for.

Atheists don't ever have twisted senses of justice? I must know quite a few believers in denial.

I think the point was that atheists don't tend to believe in divine retribution. *NM*
