Why do the amateur games get so much attention and sometimes seem to spark even more enthusiasm than the real thing in the NBA? It's weird.
I'm tired of foul calls that are completely dependent on the experience and star power of the players involved. I'm sick of teams that buy the best players to win (I don't just mean Miami, it's been more than that. Small-market teams don't have a chance at attracting good players). I'm tired of coaches winning Coach of the Year and being fired the next season.
Those things just aren't as prevalent in college. And because players get four years maximum, you don't have to deal with as much hoopla surrounding star players.
The Brandon Davis story is hilarious, though. My favourite part is where BYU bans students not only from drinking coffee, but also tea.
Just to state the obvious, Brigham Young University is owned by the LDS church, and students are expected to live by certain standards. The LDS church doesn't believe in drinking coffee or tea (the idea mainly being to avoid substances that create a dependency or addiction), and so students who choose to go to BYU aren't allowed to either.
I feel bad for Davies. I've always liked the kid. Unfortunately, but understandably, this situation is getting a lot of public attention, which he doesn't deserve. I hope he can work things out and get back with the team next season.
