The carnal nature of the flesh just happens to be the way we're all innately broken. Joel Send a noteboard - 27/01/2011 11:30:09 PM
Or else he believed in the principles, but was too weak to act according to them.

Humans can't will themselves to action, our brains aren't wired that way.

So I will merely say that a large part of the Christian faith focuses on exactly that - resisting the temptations of the flesh.

A large part of Christian Faith is not the resisting of the temptations of the flesh but is instead trying to form a communion with God. Christian Faith recognizes we are all innately broken and nothing we can do can fix that, only by coming to understand that we are innately broken can we establish a relationship with God and thus obtain the Kingdom of Heaven.

You, um, kinda skipped over that part, which is unfortunate, since it demonstrates why what Shannow said is so necessary to what you just said. It's impossible to have a RELATIONship with anyone solely on ones own terms, and doubly wrong to attempt it with ones Maker. Any carnal desire put ahead of God is turning ones back on Him; why would anyone except a fellow human being to accept that kind of "relationship", let alone expect God to do so?
