We recently put a man to death in Texas how was very likely innocent - Edit 1

He was convicted in a fair trial of burning his down with his children in it. The fire investigator testified that the zero doubt that the fire was arson and that the father’s story was untrue. Turns out the “science” the investigator used was mostly BS speculation that no one had ever really tested or proven. He dies withever one he ever knew thinking he had burned his own children alive becuase he was tired of taking care of them.

They find people innocent all the time we they do DNA analysis. Even eyewitnesses are not always correct and police have managed to get innocent people to confess more than once. So it isn’t that I oppose the death penalty in all cases but it needs to be very rare because our system is just not that accurate.

There seems to be no doubt about guilt in this case but there does seem to be doubt about his mental state. If he is sane and fakes it I am not sure that will do him as much good as you might think. He will still be locked away for the rest of his life but he will also be forced to take power drugs that such bad side affects that some people prefer to just be crazy. I would rather be in general population watching TV and playing dominoes then stuck in an insane asylum with the mentally deranged and forced to take drugs that suppressed all my emotions and beat my personality flat.
