How many physics majors do we have here not working in the field of physics? At least four. everynametaken Send a noteboard - 13/01/2011 01:47:27 AM
Others have pointed out the reasons you should choose CS so I won't reiterate. Two of those four physics majors have spoken out but I know the other two would or will probably say the same thing. BTW, I work for a Fortune 500 company in a division that brought in 10 billion in work last year. I know plenty of programmers knocking down good money in the company, I know of no physicists in the company at all. In fact, I can't think of a single physicist I've ever met in 34 years outside of academia. The field is very wide with what can be done with a degree in CS. I have friends who have traveled the world for different projects and I know guys and girls who have chosen to find local companies to work with because they weren't interested in the money and travels. CS is constantly ranked as one of the best paying jobs every year by people at Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, etc.
Those are my two cents.
