I don't consider it as "taking myself out of things". I have no interest in doing anything else, so what's the point of doing second best when I can do what I want?
that if you do what you want to do, you're in the best position to teach your daughters that they can do whatever they want with their lives. Why be bitter that you put your family second? I'm sure that would carry over to what you can teach them about personal choices and strengths.
My mother was a house-wife with four children, and we're all very opinionated work-a-holics. I don't even want children, so it's not as though it's a given thing.
...I would argue that we are currently seeing the exact opposite reaction/effect: that as more and more women started working outside the home they started raising more and more children who don't see the value in a woman being "just" a wife and mother, while at the same time children, marriages and families (and ultimately society) are suffering for it. There are women who are suited for the SAHM/W role and women who aren't; there are women who want that and women who don't. It really does take all kinds. Can't we all just get along?
