Oh, wait, wrong holiday, sorry.

I guess it depends on which part you mean. The Julebord had pretty much everything you can manage on a buffet, so we got rather stuffed. Plus, when I take the Oatmeals "How Long Could You Survive After Kicking a Bear in the Balls?" again the number is several seconds higher because I can now truthfully say I've had bear (it tastes like a cross between pork and beef, not bad). Also ostrich. If not for a conscious effort to save room for everything I probably would've just gorged on Canadian lobster and tried not to think about the expense of shipping live lobsters across an ocean to serve at a buffet, knowing that anything not eaten that night would go bad by the morrow (there's not enough allspice in the world to save that, and wtf were you when my fiancee was running around trying to find the Norsk word for allspice so she could make a pumpkin pie? ) Grabbed a crab leg. Of course, there was lutefisk, too, which wasn't bad. Hare, a couple kinds of duck, and lamb, cookies and pastry for desert.

Christmas dinner was fairly tame by comparison, with the traditional Christmas sausages (what we call "pan sausage" was made from m'ladys grammas recipe, beef and pork, quite nummy) and ribbe. I heartily endorse both the idea of doing all the Christmas stuff on Christmas Eve so you don't HAVE to do jack on Christmas Day (it was decided we'll skip the Lutheran ceremonies until they're coherent to me) and ribbe. Ribs for Christmas dinner is guaranteed to please any decent Texan, and if they taste and feel like they're wrapped in bacon, so much the better.

Hey, you asked; I'll tell you about Christmas dinner in TX next time I'm there. I did miss the pumpkin pie and moms stuffing an eensy bit, but for some reason chicken livers were impossible to find the last two weeks, and the trauma of the last pie is probably too recent for me to safely ask for another. Hope you're feeling better now, btw.
