I have the type of BRITISH window that you lift to open. It is an insane design, but it is everywhere. It is also never actually air-tight, and I don't know whether the draft or the single glazing makes me hate Britian more. Just so you know. This rant brought to you by my frosen fingers.
Ones like this?

More or less, except from the Georgian period more or less, I suspect (don't ask which George).
They are okay if they are looked after well (and you can get them with double glazing)
Hehehe. Yes. These are not mine per se.
I'm afraid so. One is in the kitchen, the other in the bedroom. Both have to be openable.
Ah, I can see that is a problem.

I want to ask, even though I think it will make me angry: What is the temperature where you are?

No, *9/5+32=28.4; if you're gonna do math, might as well do it right.

Merely commenting on her absurd choice of temperature scale.

Well that is fair enough. I was ready to object as her post is at least an E if not a D, gradewise.

-11 or -12°C ≈ 10-12°F. But temperatures as high as 6°C forecast for later this week! *NM*

It is currently 24 F, -4 C. No snow currently, total of 1 inch for the season so far. Ridiculous. *NM*
