Nostalgia was better in the old days Dannymac Send a noteboard - 03/12/2010 09:47:34 PM
Every now and again, I get the urge to listen to some random music. My venue of choice for this is Youtube, where I search for random songs I haven't heard in forever. Usually on the close matches I'll be reminded of yet another song, and so that can keep me occupied for awhile.

Today I went from Dancing in September by Earth Wind and Fire, to Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey, which led to a bunch of Genesis songs, and then of course to Peter Gabriel.

Literally each of these videos had at least four prominent comments about how music today sucks, usually referencing either Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. And now I'm thinking, what the hell? Did we not notice when our parents were saying the EXACT SAME THING about our music?

I have no hatred for Justin Bieber. Not a fan of his music, but I can say that about a lot of people. He got himself discovered through Youtube and, hey, more power to him. I am actually quite impressed with Lady Gaga, who I think is the most creative Female artist at least since Madonna.

Is there a reason that older generations feel the need to bash the younger generations music, especially when listening to the music they like? I turn 30 in a few weeks. When that happens, will I suddenly start hating on the young kids with their twitter?
