Well, I am not sure how popular these bands were in England (as they were American bands) but I imagine the English knew about them because they are legend. Whether your husband was a fan or not, you would have to ask him. Be careful too on the Misfits stuff because the band was reformed in the 1990s and most people who loved the original Misfits don't listen to the revamped lineup. Check the Wikipedia page for their album listings if you decide on some of their stuff so you don;t accidentally buy newer stuff.
