Closed practices are fairly common, but I'm not sure how it works when BOTH teams are "visitors".

and they'll close off the practice to keep spectators out. If they couldn't be bothered to do that I'm wondering why they did practice stuff they wanted to keep out of opponents' knowledge.
Technically, SF was listed as the "home" team but, yeah, right. The problem is that staff for the opposing team isn't the general public, and both teams needed access to a suitable field for practices. I'm honestly not sure how that works here; maybe they do a half court thing like in basketball and each of them gets one end of the field (probably what I would do, and if you think you can gain more from observing the other guys practice, without taping, than you do by practicing yourself, well, you're probably wrong and will find that out come game day).
The irony here is that it's debatable whether Denver would've gained any competitive edge if they HAD watched the tape. Someone on BF said something the other day about it being six minutes worth of Frank Gore (starting running back for the '9ers) and his agent has probably made sure every coach in the League has seen a highlight reel longer than that. It's the principle, which, only a couple years after Spygate, apparently needs reinforcement, because the same guy who did the taping then was hired by his then offensive coordinator when the latter became our head coach, and now the same guy has done the same thing again. Broncoland is going nuts over this; half the fans already wanted McDaniels head for his epically awful coaching failures, but one thing most people seem to be missing is that it's a darned good thing Denver LOST: The last time the League found out about something like this and that the team responsible WON their game they hit them with not only fines, but the loss of their first round pick in the following draft. All signs point to Denver having a VERY good first round pick next year (especially since they lost to Seattle by a FG yesterday; welcome to 3-8: They can still get to .500 if they win every remaining game).

I think the evidence should be thrown out based on their sucking in that game. *NM*

The LEAGUE said no one could tape it, and virtually shouted it at the Cheatriots after Spygate.

So they were allowed to watch but not tape?

Well, I suppose they could spend all their time watching the '9ers practice if the skipped their own

Probably would still be illegal, but I'm not sure it could be done so easily.

Then why not practice behind closed doors?

Normally they do, at least part of the time, but there were extenuating circumstances.

My point is that all they'd have to do is tell the people running Wembley

Logical, but there was a definite time crunch, which affected both teams.

Pretty sad when the Faders can tut tut Denver for poor sportsmanship though.
