juice is not just sugar. - Edit 1

Yes, it has a high amount of sugar in it, but it also has:

Vitamin C
B Vitamins
Vitamin A
some Vit. E and K

Various levels of minerals, which I'm sure you know.

Should it be drunken by the fist-full in large quantities every meal? Of course not. But that doesn't mean it's unhealthy. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with an 8 oz glass of 100% orange juice in the morning. Energy for the morning drive, all your vitamin C for the day, and even some fiber if you leave the pulp in.

I don't know WHY everyone got on this huge "sugar is horrible! calories are bad! OMIGOD CARBS" parade. Too much of ANYTHING we eat is bad. The goal is portion control, not "don't eat/drink it".

Particularly with the widespread use of quality juicers, juice can hold a very efficient role in a child's health. A well formulated juice recipe can pack in half a day's fruits and veggies into one glass. Some simple prep the night before, and a parent can have a glass of healthy green (or otherwise colored) juice ready in five minutes in the morning. No, it is NOT a replacement for actually eating the fruits and greens, but it's an efficient way to get a headstart in the morning, or fill in the gaps if you end up eating mostly unhealthy throughout the day.

Totally blowing off ANY product just because "oh it's SUGARY" is inane.
