There is a type of cotton fabric design that pakis and indians call "chicken", I am linking a picture of what im talking about, can anyone tell me the american/english word for that particular type of design? Its the 4th skirt down, its white.
Just saying...
i guess its all about the context, and i am Pakistani so .....
In Australia we abbreviate everything so Pakistani became Paki, not said with any malice. Since moving to the UK however I have found that using the word Paki is some sort of slur, which disappoints me. Glad to have an actual Paki refute that. Common sense prevails.
Instead of calling them Pakistanis, you are just removing half the syllables. Unless of course you refer to everyone who looks Pakistani as Pakis, which is kind of offensive, but honestly no big deal.
Funny story... I was at a restaurant with a friend when the waiter casually asked him if he was from Trinidad. My friend was Korean

I've only heard it considered so in England. But that could be my limited exposure to its use.
