Yes, but simply the ability to cut through the bullshit would be helpful. If Obama had done that rather than engage with it, he might be able to actually do something.
Obama is incapable of cutting through BS: it's simply not who he is as (what I perceive as being) a consensus builder. Which is fine in itself, except his party is far too fractious to get any kind of true consensus with to ever get anything useful done in the face of a united opposition... and that's how we have the mess we do now.
Also, Franken is a moron. I know this, because my state (somehow) elected him. I voted third party in that particular race, much good it did me.
