They have a healthy ability to step back and cut through rhetoric. Although judging by Al Franken, their tendency to do that gets heavily subdued when they actually get properly political.
The problem with Franken though is that he is actually very partisan and biased. He wrote a book called "Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot". If Stewart were to title such a book, he'd call it "I Disagree With Limbaugh, but I Don't Think His Size or Intellect is Why".
True.
Although Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them had me giggling for hours.
