Don't go for an i7 950 for you are doing dual channel memory and not tri channel (which only adds 5% to the speed). If you are doing dual channel memory there is no reason to go tri channel. Clock for clock the 1366 and 1156 are identical in speed if they are using the same channel memory.

Now 1366 motherboards are better for dual video cards but you aren't doing dual video cards with your current video card choice and keeping the same case so you just wasted a good 50 dollars between the 1366 motherboards vs 1156 motherboards. In addition unless you are seriously multitasking/video rendering there is little real difference between i5 750 vs i7 860.

KEEP THE SSD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rather have a dual core with a good ssd than a quad core without an SSD. It is the most cost effective upgrade you can do that makes your computer "feel faster."

6 years old? Don't just replace the HD - build a new one, if you have the cash. - 22/10/2010 01:35:08 PM 559 Views

A power surge is likely to corrupt your RAM as well, and possibly motherboard components. *NM* - 22/10/2010 06:39:06 PM 273 Views
