I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Joel Send a noteboard - 14/10/2010 05:18:18 AM
My buddy just sent me a link to an article about ICP, where they're claiming to be spreading the word of God...

I'm not a fan, but have heard their stuff. I can't see the "hidden messages." Maybe it's like reverse subliminal messages or something? (8

The article is good for a laugh at least and it seems like they actually believe what they're saying.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are as ridiculous as it sounds to suggest a band infamous for violent and offensive lyrics even in an industry known for it was actually just a Trojan Horse for the gospel--for two freakin' decades!--it's actually plausible in an age when people take being sincerely wrong to new lows. Although I can't help remembering some of the reading I did on ICP a year or two ago, and IIRC the band and its fans already had a religion of their own, a more diabolical one much closer to voodoo than Christianity, which was a lot of the appeal for many juggaloes. I suppose anyone who's spent 20 years dedicating their lives to meeting the devil at the carnival with ICP will be pretty unhappy to learn they're actually supposed to meet God.

All of that said, my gut reaction? Promotional stunt; isn't that pretty much all ICP is? :P

Oh, and the bit about miraculous rainbows made me think of that video a few years ago of a woman showing light refracted by her garden hose, which she cited as "proof" that DARPA was putting something in our water with their HARP satellite. :P
